SB: SB Registry

Wild Bill-bob;

Ruth's recent hair-pulling exercise WRT finding someone to insure
her SBH in British Columbia got me wondering as to why she
couldn't find that information at the SB Registry, where theoretically,
one should be able to look up the SBH that already exist in one's area
and find out which company provided the insurance.

One obvious problem is that not enough people are taking the time
to register their buildings.

Another obvious problem is that many people don't bother taking out
insurance on their buildings.

However, I did notice that a number of people who did insure their
SBH didn't bother providing the contact info of their insurer .

Why is that ?

Perhaps it might be useful to provide an explanation with each of the
items in the questionnaire, describing why provision of some specific
item of information will be helpful to others.

Or another approach (which would have been helpful to Ruth) might be
to accept paid advertising from companies who are SB-friendly .

ie - Insurance companies and agents who are willing to issue policies for
        SB homes
      - Banks and trust companies who will issue mortgages for SB homes
      - builders and sub-trades who have experience working on SBH
     etc.

I suspect that the revenue would be helpful in maintaining the site and
maybe even provide you with a bit left over to keep little Au Yuen Christensen
in peanut butter & jam sandwiches for a day or three ?
