it really depends on how much digging you are doing. I've had a large
excavator be far less expensive than a backhoe which was a 1/3 of the hourly
cost of the excavotor just because of the volume of material. My preference
on a site is a bobcat because they do far less damage overall but it takes a
lot more time and some things they simply cannot do.

tell us what the excavation consists of.
