SB: Re: Borax foam?

Hello, all.

Someone asked me to forward whatever information I received on my
question. So, I'm summarizing here in case anyone else would find it
useful. Thank you to all who responded. I'm still following leads,
but I'm sure that I'll find what I'm after.

First, what I was after was specifically foam board insulation
with borax in it. I intend to lay it on top of an impermeable
membrane (bituthene), and then top it off with an earthen cover. So
thank you to those who responded with something other than that,
thank you. However, I'm only going to summarize what interested me.

Many of the SIP manufacturers make and thus supply their own EPS - with borax.
Go to SIPs.org for a complete list.
---
You might contact the people at R-Control, who make EPS in our area, and ask
them where they get their boric acid. I think the head guy there is named
Richard Lloyd. 540-662-9104.

I've seen this product by Advance Foam Plastics called Perform Guard. They
have a website.... www.afprcontrol.com
---
R-Control is one brand name made at many plants through the U.S.
Look up www.R-Control.com. They call it "PerformGuard".

I know INSULSPAN uses treated EPS for their SIPs. You could ask them

I used borate treated EPS for my grade-beam. The manufacturer is in Georgia
so probably not a good choice for you in the Great White North.
Here are several links for closer manufacturers.

here are Canadian manufacturers of EPS but borate-treated I can't tell

If you are interested, below is where I bought my foam. Their web page
doesn't seem to work
