SB: Full Moon Maryland Mud Workshop
Full Moon Maryland Mud Party (Workshop)
April 27th and 28th
9a.m. - 5p.m.
Bonfire Saturday Night
Sam, Kappy, Stuart, Wren and Anna (beeguild@aol.com) invite you to a mud
party on a full moon weekend. Mud parties area very rare thing and rarer
still is the privilege of attending on a full moon. So mark your calendars
because you are invited to a for real full moon mud party. Now there are
variations on the basic mud party but this here one is designed to release
you inner creativity, tensions, and struggles through mixing clay, water,
sand, sawdust, and woodchips, to create walls.
You can see what we've done so far:
http://www.potkettleblack.com/misc/sam1.html
Our muddy goals:
· Applying a base coat of earth plaster to our straw bale wall
· Finish the second coat on the interior walls with an emphasis on creating wild bas-relief sculptures
· Lightclay (sawdust, woodchips, and clay) infill for timberframe
· Earth Plaster over lath on the timberframe
Food and drinks will be provided.
For those of you who don't know our house it is a small farmhouse that has
had its insides rearranged and retrofit with strawbales. The second earth
plaster coat remains to be done on the inside as well as a good deal of
trimming out. A timber-frame addition with a rock foundation has been
added on the back, a straw bale infill wall added on the northside, and the
remaining two walls awaiting a lightclay infill.
Things to bring:
· Gloves
· Shovel
· Wheelbarrow
· Trowels
· Hods
· Hammer (for hammering on lath)
· Old clothes and shoes or rubber boots
· Clothes to change into
· Camping gear if you want to stay over Saturday night
· Big Rocks (we are always in need of big rocks but are woefully lacking
of them in the region)
If things happen quickly we will do an earth oven on Sunday.
Camping available on the grounds.
Kids very welcome, we can hose them off at the end of the day so you take
the right one home.

Tell A Friend, All are Welcome
I rose from marsh mud,
algae, equisetum, willows,
sweet green, noisy
birds and frogs. . . .
