SB: strawbale and financing
greetings!
this is a topic that i'm sure has been covered
some before but i'd like to get any fresh input
you all might have...
we're in the process of buying a 35 acre parcel
in SW Colorado that we plan to farm organically
eventually. (you don't have to mention that we
may not have any water for a while anyway...)
the owner is willing to carry for 5 years giving
us time to build a small strawbale cottage and
get some infrastructure set up. but after the 5
is up we'll need to figure out someone to carry
it.
BUT- many places have restrictions on building
size in order to carry at a decent rate. (like
1200 feet 2 bed, 2 bath for example)
we're just looking to build a nice 500-700 sq
ft. cottage to live in for maybe 10 years +
until we can afford to build a bigger home (if
we'd decide we needed to)
my question being if anyone has good sources for
SB financing sources that would go for this sort
of thing. I know there are many mortgagers that
will cover SB but most SB homes built seem to be
of average family size. We're looking to stay
small and simple and invest more of our money
into the farm and permaculture designs for the
land.
Oh and any good sources for smaller SB floorplan
ideas would be great too.
Any input would be great! On or off list. thanks.
