SB: RE: Just what is "adequate" pre compression ??
Funny , a few people have mentioned that they broke a winch or stripped the
threaded rod. Maybe there is a bit of superiority complex involved here (
"down, bale, down, damn you " ) .
I reckon if I was using an average built person's strength on a one ton
"pull along" every 450 mm ( one foot ) along the wall for a non load
bearing structure then I'll have a better than even chance of little
settling afterwards.
My only concern then is to see that he top plate is level (ish )

Hubby also had used a l ton hand wench (fence
type?) to pull down the cable tie downs and we were so certain we
needed
to see the wall compress that he actually broke one wench!
