SB: Other pozzolans besides Fly ash

Katey- thanks for a great technical answer..scarey stuff that fly ash.

I want to make a note that other safe pozzolans that bond well with lime
are ground brick dust ( red bricks crushed, or any bricks that have been
fired, not sun dried) and rice husk ash...rice hulls are burned to ash,
and the resultant material ash is perfect for lime.

I keep hoping the CA rice farmers will have some cottage industry come
along, like in India, where they burn the hulls to make a pozzolan.

There used to be a good little book ( Rice Husk Ash Cement- a UK title)
on this, but it is out of print.

there are a lot of other natural materials that can be used too..like
volcanic ash ( it's been fired!), but Mt. St. Helen's ash is protected
(from people like me) who want to go get some to try.
