You may actually not be the one with the virus. The KLEZ virus that has
been posted to the list several times lately masquerades as coming from
people in your address book. So, if you were infected, to the casual
observer, it would look like you sent the virus. When one looks closer,
someone else is infected, but they have your Email in their address book.
The virus does this. It picks one address to send to, and another to put
in the "From" line, none of which are the person who is infected.
Upon very close examination, and with a copy of the strawbale subscribers
list (which I have) I can narrow down the "culprit" (who is also an
innocent victim here) to all those people with the same ISP as the ISP
where the Email came from. However, if you are a technophobe, you
probably do not have the desire to track this down.
If your latest version of McAfee says you do not have a virus, then you
are probably a collateral casualty, not the culprit/victim.
