SB: Great Lakes mix finaleŠ
Hello thereŠ!
A big thankyou to the folk that took the time to respond to my bleat
both on the list and off the list, I have learnt a great deal from you
and I do think this list is the bees kneesŠI think my original posting
suggested that I was inclined to use HIGHBOND for a bale plaster (a
premixed portland lime
mix available from St. Lawrence cement here in Canada) this resulted in a few
responses from some quarters that implied that I might be the kind of
person that would pressure treat straw bales if I couldŠ
I just have a couple of small questions left on a couple of issues (
before I decide on a specific method ) that I still feel insecure about
and within the knowledge of those that have been good enough to honour
me with their knowledge, I have decided to post these questions as
general questions to this list just in case the answers might be useful
to another groping newbieŠI have not searched the archive or the general
net for any answers to these questions.
1. If lime is applied in plaster form or just trowelled on to straw will
it "eat" the straw? Or damage or impair it any way?
2. If a batch of lime putty is made and left outside during a freezing
Winter will it make the putty unusable?
The above questions are as a result of conflicting opinions from highly
respected sources and will dictate to me the course of action I will
take with my first structure.
Thanks again everyone
Michael K Lough
