Re: SB: Greywater (was Regarding Sun Mar)
this might not work for a very cold climate, but I diverted my
washer/dishwaser away from my septic into a french drain system
built into my garden. It is a fairly standard french drain in a
flat spot 30X50 with four runs along its length and a distribution
plenum (homemade). The whole thing is covered by 12 inches of
soil. Here in Texas we have been having plenty of dry over 100
degree days this month and my tomatoes, and green peppers are
still thriving. I dont see how this would not be doable in a
colder clime. By making the rubble bed in the french drain 24-36
inches deep, and burying all your pipe runs 12 inches down, you
should get enugh drainage that water would not accumulate for long
in the distribution pipes. Dry pipes dont freeze.
