SB: RE: Fwd: re: calendar.
I like the idea of planting and harvest dates for the straw but I think it
would get real complicated to add the construction milestones. This could
also cause trauma to those of us who are construction-challenged by not
being able to meet the "normal" timeline!
And will this product be aimed at a strictly North American market?
Planting/harvest dates for Oz, Chile, Israel, Netherlands, Columbia,
Germany, England, Jordan, Kenya, China, et. al.????
I have a CD of a Chilean group here (includes the brother of the owner of
the farm that will supply my bales) called Laitec which, in a native Chilean
tongue means "tierra larga" in Spanish. This, in turn, means "long earth"
in English or - more appropriately- "long land". (Nice language lesson,
no??) This makes reference to the shape of Chile. After listening to it, I
think it fits into your "funky" and/or "wonky" categories. According to
the packaging, the group "comes to blend the sky with the earth, the rain
with the sun, the naturaleza with the man who still resists the urban
devastation, and brings its music to your imagination to accompany it in the
long trip to your pending dreams." (My reasonably accurate translation.)
If wonky is as wonky does, I believe this fits the bill.
So the question is: What sort of image do we wish to project about SB
construction? New Age, spiritual, banging on tom-toms? The down-and-dirty
economic and engineering simplicity? Stress the sustainable use of
resources aspect? Emphasize the Green Perspective? Praise the esthetic
qualities? Or perhaps highlight all of the positions? I think this should
play a large part in the selection of the music. What´s the read here?
