remember tho,  a clay based rendering is a much more suitable plastering to
use over straw as the properties of clay combined with the properties of
straw actually help keep moisture out of the walls,  where cement will not
only hold it in,  but attract it as well.   personally i feel the same about
using metal mesh of any kind.  on a warm day cool metal within the wall
might attract and condence moisture inside the wall.
