Re: SB: Gravity fed domestic water system
Hi David,
This thread may already have been exhausted but some quick notes for you:
-In Ontario a gravity fed domestic water system (Class 9 I think???) is not
subject to some of the same conditions for waste disposal that would be a
conventional system. For example, I beleive that you require only a small
leaching field as opposed to a full septic bed (assuming other managment of
black water such as dry composting toilet)
-Try contacting Chris Magwood (Ed of The Last Straw) regarding his house's
system in Madoc, Ontario which is basically as you describe exceptthat I
think he has a pump feed from the ground level cistern to his
overhead 'pressure' tank in the attic each night. Something like that.
-We will be demonstrating a gravity fed domestic water system at Hillsburgh,
Ontario's Everdale Environmental Learning Centre for Home Alive! - a living
demonstration home. Feel free to contact me this winter when the design
details are complete.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Ben Polley
